Next Generation Athletics & Basketball Academy was formed in September of 2015 by Coach Zahir Motara.

Coach Z as he is affectionately known saw the need for a basketball program to be specifically targeted to primary school age children and thus, 'NexGen Fridays' was birthed.

As interest started to peak, and more young children and parents became aware of our Academy we started to get more participants. The interest also grew within the secondary schools leading us to create multiple age groups as part of our year round program while now catering to children from ages 6 to 17.

Due to this growth, we pursued young passionate coaches with similar goals to be a part of NexGen and has since created a versatile pool of coaches to assist in improving the sport of basketball throughout the Academy and on the island.

NexGen currently runs weekly sessions during the school term, camps during the school holiday periods, tournaments for youth age groups, personal 1-on-1 sessions, and group training sessions along with going into schools to run their after school basketball activities.

​

We took a leap of faith with the Academy and began with 4 children, since then we have seen over 400 boys & girls pass through the program, 'NexGen Fridays has proudly become the staple of our Academy. 

​

Our main goal is to assist the youth with improving their skills on and off the court, not only within the sport of basketball but in their daily lives while making positive contributions to society.

​

Our motto, "DREAM BIG, NO EXCUSES", speaks for itself and we encourage this in everything we do.
